In cooperation with the Truman Forensic Union, the Truman Department of Communication and an independent research project conducted in COMM 429: Political Communication, we are proud to being DebateWatch 2008 to Kirksville.
DebateWatch is a program designed to encourage voters to watch Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates, to discuss them and to provide feedback. Started formally in 1996 and piloted in 1994, this program has already helped thousands of Americans, in locations across the country (and among Americans living abroad), gain a greater appreciation for these very important events. The program has been sponsored nationally in the past by the Commission on Presidential Debates, the National Communication Association, and a variety of voter education partners. This year's Truman DebateWatch 2008 is operating independently.
The Forensic Union, in cooperation with other campus organizations, Truman faculty, and COMM 429: Political Communication, will be organizing DebateWatch groups across campus and in the Kirksville community for each of the 2008 Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates.
