Kristi Scholten, Assistant Professor of Communication and Director of Forensics

Kristi Scholten did her undergraduate work at Central Michigan University where she competed primarily in individual events. Upon graduation she continued her MA studies at Central Michigan while coaching individual events. Her PhD was completed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she added debate coaching to her resume. Her first full-time coaching and teaching position was at Ferris State University, where she served as Director of Debate and nurtured a parliamentary debate program. While still a "Jack of all Trades" when it comes to forensics, Kristi has focused on developing Truman's individual events program since her arrival at Truman and she assumed the role of Director of Forensics in June 2009.

Russell Luce, Instructor in Communication and Assistant Director of Forensics

Russ Luce competed as an undergraduate at Central Michigan University in the full range of debate and individual events. While completing a MA degree at Miami University of Ohio, Russ coached individual events. He did PhD studies at the University of Kansas while doing some assistant coaching at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He is in his first year as Assistant Director at Truman working primarily with debate events (Lincoln-Douglas and Parliamentary Debate).

Kristopher Stroup, Assistant Professor of Communication and Assistant Director of Forensics

Kris Stroup competed as an undergraduate at Truman in both CEDA/NDT debate and NPDA debate. He also tried his hand at a few individual events. From 2000-2002 Kris reached national elimination rounds at NPDA three times, including an appearance in the semifinals in 2001. He received his MA degree from Ohio University and anticipates the completion of his PhD in August 2007. While at Ohio he coached both individual events and Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Upon his return to Truman from Ohio he served as a volunteer assistant coach to the Forensic Union. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Communication at Truman State and recently assumed the role of Assistant Director of Forensics.

Dr. Kevin Minch, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication, Former Director of Forensics and Volunteer Coach

Kevin Minch has been at Truman as Associate Professor of Communication since 1999 and served as Director of Forensics from August 1999 to June 2009. Prior to arriving at Truman, Kevin served as an assistant coach for the University of Kansas Debate Team and Associate Director of the Jayhawk Debate Institute. He coached individual events at Wayne State University and high school debate at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He is Associate Editor of The Forensic Educator and a member of the National Communication Association's Committee on International Discussion and Debate. He current serves in Truman's administration as Director of the Truman Institute and Dean of the Joseph Baldwin Academy
